Donuts, Banana Bread and Touch Ups

I asked Theo what he wanted for breakfast today. He said donuts and I couldn't say no. We walked over to Bogarts to pick them up. He liked that the sequins on his shirt lit up the donut bag.

Meanwhile, back at home Meadow was making second breakfast of mini eggs and toast.

The kids bedrooms were so close to being done. Scott put the baseboard shoes back on so I needed to caulk.

Can't have tiny gaps, I guess.

We borrowed a projector from Daniel for Meadow's birthday party. We tried it out the night before by using our big map as a screen.

Sometimes these kids get along and play with their toys.

Ever since Blake got Instagram he sends me random videos, like Bundt tacos. You know I had to try this.

On Sunday Meadow made banana bread. We seem to always have way too ripe bananas or should I say just ripe enough. Brooke hates bananas with spots.

Ew. They have to be slightly green.

I just need to clean off all the dust from sanding and her room is ready to be put back together.

Finishing Up the Kids Rooms

Our house is really starting to come together now. With the kids rooms complete we could move Meadow's art supplies to her bedroom. The porch is no longer a storage space and an actual livable space. When I'm productive, I tend to finish odds and ends that I've been putting off like this porch thermometer. Can you tell the kids are excited for their rooms? The picture rail looks awesome in Theo's room. The kids are loving having their own spaces. We need to get some shelves for all of Meadow's collections. I think we have some collecting dust in the basement. I'll get to it in, well, probably fall. Theo really wanted a Zelda rug for his video game themed room, but we weren't sure the quality would be very good for one of this size. Fun fact, we almost got this rug for our living room. Had hoped to replace the kids sconces, but due to the old capped gas lines that are hidden under the current lights, that'll have to wait. Now let's see which kid ke

Freaster Sunday

We decided to stay home for Easter this year. We've missed the past few years and seem to be okay with it. We still celebrate in our own way. For breakfast I made oat bran. This time I sweetened it with a little agave. Scott seems to think I only like my oats bland, but that's not true. I make truly interesting oats. Agave, my friends, does not make oatmeal tasty. If you're looking for a quick, but complex variation try this recipe the next time you have a few extra minutes -- unless you like bland-meal. Steel-cut Oats w/ Apple Chips, Raisins and Cinnamon 1 C Water 2/3 C Steel Cut Oats Handful of Apple Chips 1/4 C Raisins 2 T Brown Sugar 1 t Cinnamon Pinch of Salt Cook the first two ingredients for a few minutes over medium heat. When water starts to simmer lower heat and add dried fruit. Cook until tender. While still on heat add a teaspoon of cinnamon, two tablespoons brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Eat. This year we spent the week of Meadow's birthday in Wisconsin. First for her birthday party in Green Bay and then up at the cottage for some good old-fashioned 4th of July fun. We were heading out of town the day of Meadow's actual birthday. During breakfast we let her open a gift. Girly potato heads.
