Brooke Takes the Kids to WIsco/ Scott Works and Plays Back Home

Scott had to work and Cevonne was in Wisconsin. So this time I took the kids to see family solo.

Good morning Theodore!

Always sleeping in.

When back home we have to go to Bay Beach. What was going to be just me and the kids turned into my whole family coming along.

Home? Brooke always makes fun of me for calling Milwaukee home. Ha.

This year there is a new ferris wheel. Still only .75 to ride.

Theo loved that he could go on the rides too.

Jello.

Even by himself.

Meadow and Marina rode on the slide together like 8 times in a row.

Theo didn't like that I went on rides without him.

Meadow was too scared for the big ferris wheel but eventually gave in.

Meadow begged to go on the playground, so before leaving I said she could.

Back at home I was meeting up with my old buddies Danny and Davin.

First I had to bike across the city.

Nicollet Mall on a summer early evening is so great.

My dad had tickets to use up, one last ride with all the cousins.

Then we stopped for dinner at Zesty's.

I met up at Indeed Brewing and managed to order a beer for Davin that he liked. He's not a beer guy, but loved Indeed's Mexican Honey. I loved their new version Mexican Honey Light.

We moved over to Centro for margaritas.

This place is good.

Then I had to bike late night back through the city.

Chelsea and Dan had gone out to Mile of Music so the boys sleptover. The kids all tried to sleep in one room, but Meadow said they talked too much and came into bed with me.

My dad taught Meadow how to do archery.

Cevonne's flight was cancelled and delayed so we went over to Chelsea's to play.

Still not sure about other people holding him.

Nolan's fairy garden is looking a little Halloweenish.

Then we decided to bike to Tom's for ice cream.

I went for a bike ride every night the fam was away. I'd basically edit on my computer for 12 hours and then have fun at night.

The next morning we biked to Seth's Coffee to finally see Cevonne. While biking I heard the shutter noise. Theo was taking selfies.

He was not having it when we arrived.

They haven't seen each other in 2 years, but were old friends again. Meadow still thinks Madeline is her cousin.

They're cousins of sorts.

This place is good. I don't know why I don't go here more.

We said our quick goodbyes. Somehow I didn't get any photos of Cevonne. I swear she was there.

The kids had these sequin pillows that Meadow had to have too. We walked over to the new Dollar Store to get one.

On our way out we met up with Amanda and her girls for lunch at Culver's.

We'll be back next summer.

Our First Visit to the Steele County Fair plus a Twins Game with Friends

This past year Theo's best friend moved to Owatonna. When we came down last May for his birthday party I saw a sign for the Steele County Fair and knew we had to come back for it. First stop is the lemonade stand.  Then we hit up the daredevil show. After going to the RV show last February, Theo gets excited to tour campers.  They're fun to look at it or rent, but sorry bud, we're sticking to tents for the most part. You know I love a fair that is connected to the historic village.  I don't know if this is a common thing, but a few of the county fairs around here have little history centers right on their fairgrounds.

August Adventures Back in Minnesota

I had a brief lull a fter being super busy in the early summer. So I took the kids up to Lindstrom with me to pick up a lens and go on a little adventure. We found a cool little shop along Lindstrom's main drag, A Ghost in the Attic . Meadow wanted every little knickknack.  She did get some really cool glow in the dark alien cat earrings.  Then we went to the Franconia Sculpture Park . I used to take the kids here every summer. Feel like we hadn't been back in years. We explored for a while, but it was way too hot.

Minneapolis Old House Bike Rides Without the Kids

Brooke and I went on a little bike date again to see some more old houses. This time for one of the tours I was most excited for, Lowry Hill.  We started with a history of the Walker Art Museum.  This house was built for the architect Frank B. Long of the notable architects Long and Kees. That's quite the roof.  Long wouldn't recognize the view from his home. These houses are bit fancy for my taste, but I learned some Minneapolis history along the way. It seemed like on this tour we had to stop at every house on Mount Curve Avenue.
