Snowshoeing and So Longs

Scott laughed at my breakfast.

My mom loves Clue so we brought that up to play. Except whenever we play with Blake he wins everytime.

I wasn't really in the Clue mood, so I did dishes of all things.

Scott had to give another lesson to my mom on how to use her phone.

I thought I was done with the Geek Squad life.

The rest of us tried out our ice rink.

Blake's more fancy than me.

It's not the best rink in the world, but it works.

It was definitely smoother than in years past.

Momma Gail burned the garbage before they headed out. It's kind of her thing.

After skating all morning we headed back inside for hot cocoa.

Oh yeah, after we left my parents house at Christmas, we had them keep Peanut so they could bring him up north. When we couldn't find him we realized he had gotten up on the top bunks.

I guess he taught him self to jump across.

Scott and I shared our leftovers for lunch.

My dad had to work the next day so my parents had to head back home. We didn't want to leave yet so my dad taught Scott how to winterize the cottage and close up.

I feel like I'm finally a man.

Then we went for a hike in the woods.

Brooke always says she wants to go snowshoeing, but when we go backcountry snowshoeing she changes her mind.

I just don't feel comfortable cutting through people's yards.

The sun was setting already, so I was a bit worried about hiking too far.

I got a beard full of twigs and branches as we went along.

Eventually we got out of the woods and found a power line trail.

Blake took us to the prettiest little pond on earth.

We always called it Little Lake.

Brooke wasn't that excited.

We had to get back because Brooke's with squirrel and gets hungry often.

I was so turned around as to where we were when I saw the lake.

They played on the ice rink a bit, while I took in the views.

My parents took most of the food they brought with them. We talked about going to the grocery store, but instead we decided to make due with what we had.

Mac and cheese, you can't complain about that.

Blake and I worked on crafts.

We were going to all see The Hobbit, but took too long eating dinner.

Then as it seemed apporiate we watched Iron Will.

Filmed in Duluth, yo.

Hey Scottie, it's Brian Finstad. Those were actually my cousin's dogs in the movie Iron Will. My cousin Ron, who lives in Solon Springs Wisconsin (Douglas County) races sled dogs. My cousin Barb is an "extra" in one of the scenes as well.

Yardwork, Ikea and Pumpkins

My new parents-in-law got us a dehydrator for the wedding. Knowing we were going to be cleaning up the garden and going to farmer's market, we took a gander at our millionth kitchen device during breakfast.   Scott added granola to his oatmeal.  The oatmeal was rather bland, just the way Brooke likes it.   Scott was actually cleaning up so I had to take a quick photo of him as proof.  Scott told me he was, "putting a blanket down for Peanut," while singing. During the winter months peanut needs a warm place to peer through the window. Seeing as it was nearly November, I setup his blanket for him. Seeing as the farmers market season is dwindling down, we headed to the market...once again. The close proximity to the cities central farmer's market has to be one of the best assets of living in NoMi. We were both amazed by the bounty of produce still on sale. We quickly filled up our first bag and took it back to the car....

Brooke Builds a Bench and Ghibli Fest at an Old Favorite

Melon for breakfast.   Meadow wanted a red bow for her hair. I used the scrap fabric from our M&M costumes to maker her one.  I kept getting ads for Studio Ghibli night at Pizza Luce. You know we had to go. Meadow got excited and dressed as Kiki right away.  You got to wait, kiddo. The trivia isn't until later. Meadow got a trapeeze bar from Brittany for her birthday. Now both kids love doing tricks on the swingset.  That is when we can get them outside. Also I've never seen our yard so lush with all the rain we've been getting this summer.

This Puzzle Just Never Ends (Plus More Bread!)

I got off Sunday for the second week in a row. While we both got up at about the same time, Brooke took forever to get dressed. I think she has too many outfits to choose from. Once up I fry some salami to go in this week's bread. We hadn't made ebelskivers in long time. We filled them chocolate chips and jam that we got from our friends Ben and Jordan. It feels like just yesterday that they stopped by post-Christmas with their cat Galaxy. Hopefully we can visit them in Seattle in the next year or so. No those aren't chocolate ebelskievers they weren't turning well and started burning. Since we were having problems with the 'skivers we decided to finish up with some waffles.   Scott plans out meals for our grocery list while I clean up the kitchen. It's great to see our mixer back in action. I fixed it midway through the previous week. I meant to take photos of the repair process, but forgot. Then Scott got star...
