Dec 28 2007

We got up late and decided to go to Manhattan.

We do a lot of walking around

Dan is practicing for New Years.

Dan took us out for lunch with his gift card for some Chicago style pizza. We ate like kings.

We walked through Central Park.

There were some great photo opps.

I'm not sure what this place was for but it was pretty.

There's an ice skating rink in the middle that we're going to check out before we leave.

Some people here dress pretty crazy.

We were going to go to the art museum but the line was a mile long so we walked around instead.

Christmas time is pretty.

Saks 5th Avenue is pretty outside

and inside

I got new shoes at a vintage store yesterday

The biggest Catholic church in the US

Grand Central Station had a light show while we were there

We saw some interesting magazines at the news stand.

Mmmm street vendor pretzels

There was another ice skating rink in Bryant park

We found Time square. It wasn't hard to miss.

We stopped in the Marriot for a drink.

I had to get a cosmo of course. I find that I don't get carded here often. Nice.

The view was great.

Duluth December Weekend: Boubville Ain't Bentleyville, But Why Not Go to Both

This year we decided to check out Daniel's avant garde Christmas light display: Boubville .  We've seen the set up but never in action. Get a crowd and it takes on a totally different vibe. Plus I don't think we've ever seen all the lights and displays on at the same time. There was even a ball pit with hidden prizes. A few of the other kids activities for the first night were canceled due to frigid temps. The winter beach was magical. A great use of the boob lights.  My favorite display was the interactive light display. Meadow even donated some art. The Ghosts of Dinners past was super rad. Like a manger scene where the people disappeared. Loved the burn barrels to stay warm. They were very necessary on this night.  Hey I recognize that doll with the pink tights.  This was one of the displays we'd seen in the past. In Blake and Daniel's garage some local teenage bands were rocking out. Not a bad first night of Boubville.  While Brooke worked at the Supe...

Meadow Turns 7

Since there is no birthday party this year we let Meadow open her first present right away. My baby is all grown up. She was so excited to get Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Random Acts of November

I had a hotel shoot in my old stomping grounds of Brooklyn Center (worked up at the nearby Best Buy for a couple of years).  Brooke had the car so I was stuck walking somewhere for lunch.  I saw this old school Chinese place on Google Maps and thought, well, I've never been to House of Hui . Let's do that. Don't read the one star reviews. I don't think they understand a good hole-in-the-wall. This was freaking amazing. Some of the best Chinese I've ever had in Minnesota. Not quite the level of Duluth's C antonese House , but damn good. I had to finish up the second level of the backyard rink this weekend. Temps were about to dip. Theo kept himself busy with a coloring app on my iMac. I'm adding some wood chips in the deep end this year to speed up the filling process. And then in the spring we already have mulch. November 24th isn't too late for pumpkin spice pancakes, is it? We needed to get more wood chips for the rink. Luckily you can still find them ...
