Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway

Yesterday Scott and I biked this.

That's a wopping 41 miles around the city. It has been my goal all summer to do the whole thing and I did it. I got to see parts of the city I had never seen before. I'm glad Scott likes biking as much as I do.

I've been working more, but I still seem to be short on money. I need to win the lottery or get a third job. It feels weird not going to school this fall. For the first time since I was 3 I won't have homework. I'm kind of disappointed in a way. I wish I could go to school, taking a semester off was a bad idea. I'm going to be in school til I'm 30.

Food Daze

Remember why we needed a freezer? We did order one from Best Buy that week, but it was on backorder until July 21. We still didn't get it and now they are saying it could be August 28. You have no idea how hard it is to go through the whole summer not being able to make our own ice cream or popsicles. Buying ice cream is nothing compared to making homemade. Please cross your fingers with us in hopes we get it soon. Since Scott had to be to work at 11. We got up early and drove to the farmers market. We had to get there fast, so we couldn't bike. As Brooke noted a few posts back, it seems like more and more people are coming to the Sunday market. It can be pretty chaotic. It took us nearly ten minutes to park. There was so much to choose from this time around. It's a lot more fun to go to the market this time of year. It's really amazing what diverse crops grow in Minnesota's short summer. Makes one wish we didn't waste so much fertile land ...

Another Foodie Sunday

Scott had off today. I was so excited to spend the day with him. I did our laundry.  Brooke's embarrassed  by our "under things." She asked me why they're on our blog. I really couldn't avoid them. It's not like we're airing our dirty laundry. They're clean.  Scott made breakfast. Simple pancakes with some diced apples.   Scott's on a pancake addiction lately.  If I'm off on a Sunday, it's the only way to go. Though I do miss waffles. Brooke wanted omelets; I'm just not an eggy dude.   We used up the syrup that were Chelsea's favors at the wedding .   Then we headed to the farmers market. I suggested we go since there aren't many weeks left until it closes for the winter.  As usual the crowds were huge and the parking lots were packed. This part of the market is technically not the farmers market, but the privately owned annex.   We skipped over to the market proper. Many ...

Brooke Turns 40, We Return to the Riverside Cabin at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters

This year is my 40th birthday. We originally thought we'd go to Mackinac Island and also played with the idea of going to Montreal. With a spring break trip coming up we settled on a cabin on the Gunflint Trail. The Gunflint Trail is one of our favorite spots in Minnesota. So, why not? We'd also decided to go on another campervan/RV relocation adventure at the end of the month. So don't act like I don't treat my honey. On our drive up we stopped at Tobie's to get cinnamon bread for french toast.  Just like a few years back we stopped at Hungry Hippie Tacos in Duluth. I feel like we have to document whenever these kids get along as it's a rarity these days.  We got the frybread tacos, but the kids stuck with the corn tortilla options. We brought along our projector and stopped at Blake's house to steal his internet to download videos. Once we got to Voyageur Canoe Outfitters and unloaded our stuff, we crossed the river to explore the trails briefly. Our feet ...
